Lying today has taken a different dimension. It has been trivialized and made a common spice of the day.
I define lie as false or distorted information presented with the aim of deceiving the recipient, who is usually the victim.
Did you know God hates lies very much? I mean, a lie could get you to hell as fast as idolatry would (if there’s speed for sin delivery to hell).
Among the things the Bible always mentions that will hinder people from making it to heaven, lies have made the first few.
Let us see Revelation 21:27 “And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a LIE”
Can you see the running mates of lie; defiling things and abomination?
See also Revelation 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death”.
Why would God hate lies so much that He keeps warning against it even a little more than some other sins? In John 8:44 Jesus said “ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do, he was a murderer from the beginning and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it”
The devil is a liar and the father of it, whoever lies is a child of the devil.
Did you know it was a lie the devil used to deceive Eve, thereby stealing life from man? Man suffers today because he believed a lie the devil told. You see how dangerous lies could be? That might give you a clue to why God hates it so much. Lies defy integrity; which is a major virtue of God. He cannot lie (Numbers 23:19).
Lies have been a great weapon of the devil; why would you use it and still expect to be called a child of God? Isaiah 63:8 defines who God’s children are; “For he said, surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their saviour”.
Do you also know that today the devil has deceived so many into believing that this sinister act of lying is just a mere medium to save your reputation? He tells you “it causes no harm to anyone; it’s just a small thing”. Such sin that God detests so much, that denied mankind God’s perfect will until Jesus came, that makes the first three of things that can deny you eternal rest- a small thing? I don’t think so! That’s definitely a lie too.
Have you been lying? Repent and desist from it. Falsifying records, telling half truths and presenting a false version of yourself is not the best for you.
God hates lies.
